Clay Lane

Clay Lane is a part of Clay Cross to the west of the town.

At the top of Clay Lane on the A61 crossroads used to stand a cross that gave the town its name and in more recent times a shop and public toilet block.

Clay Cross Tunnel has one opening of the Clay Cross Tunnel (Spoil Banks) the other end is at the opposit side of the town (Egstow)

Clay Lane is just residential and once had a public house called The Royal Oak.

    my dad george william ernest carter was born at 161 clay lane clay cross in 1913 is there any information of then and now
