Home Bargains Opens This Saturday 1st May 2021 8am

Home Bargains has invested approximately £1 million in its new store in Chesterfield, which will be officially opened at 8.00 am on Saturday 1st May 2021

As one of the UK’s largest family-run retailers, Home Bargains is creating 48 new jobs in the local community with its store on Carnworth Drive, Clay Cross. In total, the store will employ 55 team members, including some staff and management who will be transferring from local stores.

It will also be donating £2,000 to local charity Clay Cross Foodbank, which provides three days’ worth of food and offers toiletries and cleaning products to those struggling in Clay Cross and surrounding areas. The foodbank also works with its partners to help support people to improve their circumstances, while providing food to meet their current needs.

Kay Adlington, Administrator at Clay Cross Foodbank, said: “We are very grateful for this donation, which will help us provide food to many households in our community and support our work to make food poverty something that families won’t have to worry about in the future. Our work relies on the kindness of the public and we are so blessed to be given gifts like this, and for the ongoing support from our community.”

The new Chesterfield store will join over 500 outlets across the UK. Opening approximately 50 stores a year, Home Bargains is bucking current trends in the industry.

Katie Goddard, the new Chesterfield store manager, said: “It’s a huge honour to be opening our new Clay Cross store this weekend and something that I’m exceptionally proud of.

“Having worked for Home Bargains for 11 years, working my way up from an in-store team member, this is certainly a special moment and one I’ll cherish for the rest of my career.”

The 15,349 sq ft store will offer shoppers a range of products, including homewares, health and beauty essentials, sweets, snacks and drinks, as well as fresh and frozen food.

Katie added: “Carnworth Drive will be a great location for us and we’re proud to be able to offer local people top-branded goods at exceptionally low prices.”
